SORA OIL Welcomes an International GIZ Delegation for an Inspiring Sustainability Exchange

A Day of Learning, Innovation, and Sustainable Agriculture

SORA OIL was honored to welcome an international delegation organized by GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) for a field visit dedicated to sustainable agriculture, circular economy practices, and responsible olive oil production.

The delegation brought together participants from diverse backgrounds and countries, including France, India, Ukraine, and several Sub-Saharan African nations. This enriching exchange provided a unique opportunity to showcase SORA OIL’s commitment to sustainability and to share experiences on environmentally responsible agricultural practices.

Discovering Our Zero-Waste Philosophy

The visit began with an overview of SORA OIL’s sustainability strategy and our commitment to a closed-loop, zero-waste production model.

Participants discovered how we transform olive oil production by-products into valuable resources through innovative circular economy practices. Discussions focused on our approach to reducing waste, optimizing resource use, and creating a regenerative agricultural system that benefits both the environment and local communities.

Visit of the Composting Unit

One of the highlights of the day was the visit to our organic composting unit, where olive mill wastewater (margine), olive residues, and organic manure are transformed into nutrient-rich compost.

The delegation explored the different stages of the composting process and learned how these practices contribute to:

  • Soil regeneration
  • Improved soil fertility
  • Reduction of environmental impacts
  • Circular management of agricultural resources
  • Sustainable nutrient recycling

The composting project generated significant interest among participants, particularly as an innovative example of waste valorization in the olive oil sector.

Exploring the Modern Olive Mill and Walking Through the Olive Groves

Visitors were also guided through SORA OIL’s modern production facilities, where they had the opportunity to observe the different stages of olive oil processing.

The tour highlighted:

  • Mechanical harvesting practices
  • Olive reception and processing
  • Cold extraction technology
  • Quality control procedures
  • Storage and traceability systems
  • Sustainable production management

This visit provided valuable insights into how advanced technology and environmental responsibility can work together to produce premium organic extra virgin olive oil.

The experience continued with a walk through the olive groves of Domaine Drijet, allowing participants to discover the agricultural landscape and understand the practices implemented in the field.

Surrounded by centuries-old olive-growing traditions and a unique natural environment, the group explored the foundations of SORA OIL’s organic farming approach.

Throughout the day, participants engaged in in-depth discussions with the SORA OIL team on a wide range of sustainable agricultural topics.

The diversity of perspectives brought by participants from different countries enriched the discussions and created valuable opportunities for knowledge sharing and international cooperation.

A Day to Remember

Beyond the technical visits and professional exchanges, the event was marked by a spirit of collaboration, curiosity, and mutual learning.

Welcoming professionals and experts from different regions of the world reaffirmed the importance of sharing sustainable solutions and working collectively toward a more resilient and environmentally responsible agricultural future.

At SORA OIL, we believe that innovation and sustainability grow stronger when knowledge is shared.

We are grateful to GIZ and all participants for their visit and their interest in our work. This memorable day strengthened international connections and highlighted the potential of sustainable olive oil production as a driver of environmental and agricultural progress.

Together, we continue building a future where quality, sustainability, and innovation go hand in hand.
